My Story

Hi! My name is Suzanne and I am a psychology student at the University of Birmingham. I will spend two weeks of my summer supporting disadvantaged children and mothers at Nkosi's Haven just south of Johannesburg. Nkosi’s Haven is a recognized NGO in South Africa that has been in operation since 1999 offering holistic care and support for destitute HIV/AIDS infected mothers, her children, and resulting AIDS orphans (infected or not).

This placement will give me an opporutnity to better the lives of those in my community and raise awareness for mental health which can often be overlooked. Moreover, it will help shape the lives of the mothers and children for the better. I am asking for your support to help me raise £780 which will not only fund my stay in South Africa, but will partly go directly to the NGO to keep it running. Any amount, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated and smaller regular donations are just as welcome.
