My Story

I am a registered adult nurse currently studying for my masters in person-centred practice public health and wellbeing.

While I was a nursing Student I volunteered with various charities to provide first aid training in Tanzania and Uganda and I have also volunteered on board a medical ship in Lake Victoria where I was providing health promotion information and basic health care including HIV and malaria testing. Through those experiences I have become more passoniate about working alongside the locals in developing areas to improve the healthcare for the people they reach.

I am about to start writing my dissertation which will focus on the suistainability and ownership of developments and inniatives in healthcare particularly in developing areas. I am exremely honoured to have the chance to volunteer with vocational impact in Ghana and work and learn alongside local healthcare provides and being able to use my skills as a nurse in areas with very limited acess to any healthcare.

The money raised will cover accomodation costs and includes a direct donation to the communities I will be working with. It will also help help to support vocational impact as they work to encourage suistable volunteering opportunites. Living in country where we are so lucky to have free easy access to health professionals and expert opinions it is a very humbling experience to be able to give back to people who are not as lucky.
